A recent survey conducted by Schneider Electric Canada has highlighted the motivations behind electrical system upgrades among Canadian homeowners. The study, carried out by Angus Reid Group, sampled 1,007 homeowners across Canada and found a notable trend: while many homeowners are eager to lower their energy costs and enhance efficiency, safety remains the predominant factor driving decisions to upgrade electrical systems.
As Canadian homes increasingly adopt technologies such as electric vehicle (EV) chargers, heat pumps, and battery storage, the demand for reliable and safe electrical infrastructure has grown. Homeowners are becoming more aware of the necessity to ensure their electrical systems can accommodate these advancements without compromising safety.
The survey results reveal that 44 per cent of homeowners who are planning electrical system upgrades within the next two years identify safety as their primary concern. This finding underscores a shift in priorities, indicating that safety is viewed as paramount when making decisions regarding home improvements related to electricity consumption.
