Minister LeBlanc in Washington as Tariff Deadline Approaches

Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc is remaining in Washington, D.C., as the impending deadline for increased tariffs on a selection of Canadian goods draws near. These tariffs, amounting to 50 per cent on certain products, are scheduled to be implemented on August 19. In response to these developments, Minister LeBlanc is participating in ongoing negotiations with U.S. officials to mitigate the impact of the tariffs. This week, he has met multiple times with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer along with lead negotiator Janice Charette. The meetings are part of Canada's efforts to address trade tensions and seek solutions that could benefit both nations.
