The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has issued a warning regarding the rise in fatal collisions throughout Manitoba. This increase in traffic fatalities has led the RCMP to enhance their enforcement efforts to promote safer driving practices among residents. As of October, there have been 73 reported deaths due to traffic accidents in the province this year.
This current figure represents a significant rise, with the number of fatal collisions being nearly 30 per cent higher than the five-year average. Moreover, data indicates that eight deaths occurred in just the month of October. With the continued upward trend in accidents, authorities are emphasizing the importance of road safety, especially as seasonal changes may affect driving conditions.
The rise in fatalities has raised concerns within the community and among police forces, leading to a call for greater awareness and adherence to safety measures on the roads. The RCMP has committed to increasing their presence and enforcement of traffic laws in an effort to mitigate these alarming statistics and ensure the safety of all road users in Manitoba.
